Owned by the State of Alaska and operated by CIAA through contract with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), the facility located at Trail Lakes (Moose Pass) is permitted to produce sockeye, coho, and chinook salmon for release at selected sites troughout the Cook Inlet watershed.  Currently, 100 percent of CIAA's salmon prodution is done at Trail Lakes Hatchery.  Up to 19 million sockeye salmon are incubated and reared annually for release to Big Lake, Hidden Lake, Leisure Lake, Kirschner Lake, Hazel Lake, and Bear Lake. In addition, up to one million coho salmon are incubated and reared annually for release to Bear Lake, Resurrection Bay, and the Homer Spit.  At full production, Trail Lakes Hatchery has the potential to contribute up to 565,000 adult sockeye salmon returning to Cook Inlet and Resurrection Bay.

2010 Annual Management Plan for Trail Lakes Hatchery will be posted in May.
